There is no doubt that black Christian dating is hard. Any type of dating in today's society is difficult to do, but Christian dating, where you are looking for others who share the same views on religion can be hard to do. Further, perhaps you are looking for someone of a specific cultural background? Maybe you want someone who has the same background growing up or lived in the same area that you do. There are so many different ideals that you may have in the back of your mind. Sometimes, this can limit the success that you have when it comes to dating. Keep an open mind and chances are good that you will find just what you are looking for.
Too Little?
Do you have you expectations set too low? Believe it or not, this is one of the most common problems today when it comes to dating. People just do not thing that they are good enough to ask for the best things, including the best person out there. You do not have to settle for someone that you like if you are looking for love. You do not have to settle for someone who is decent if they are not good to you. Rather than putting such limitations on yourself, set your expectations higher, so that you are looking for someone that can give you love, not just an okay life.
Too Much?
On the other hand, you may have your expectations set too high. This is also a problem that many people face but not because they think too high of themselves. They are hoping and even praying for something that is just too hard to achieve. Consider the following:
- Are you expecting to find your soul mate right away? It often takes time for your personality and life to develop for that person to fit well within it. You are unlike to find him or her right away, but they are out there.
- Are you expecting to find someone that will sweep you off your feet and take away all of your problems? This is unlikely to happen, too. The fact is, everyone has challenges, even Mr. or Ms. Perfect.
- Do you expect to find someone that is rich and has plenty of time to spend devoting their millions to you? Again, keep these thoughts aside. You want to find someone that can provide you with true love, not just money to make you happy with.
When you take the time to set your expectations at the right level, you give yourself the opportunity to excel when it comes to dating. Even black Christian dating can be successful when you focus on these aspects. Your expectations could make or break your experience. If you want too much, there will never be anyone out there that can meet those demands and you will never achieve them. On the other hand, if you set them too low, you may miss out on someone else who is the ideal fit.
